The beautiful suburb of Roseville has so many great tree specimens and lovely large blocks full to bursting with all manner of trees and shrubs. This project involved a lot of pruning, thinning and shaping of a variety of different hedges to create a visually pleasing end result. Varieties included some camphor laurels – Cinnamomum camphora – that needed thinning and also the removal of a build-up of deadwood – the scent from the cut wood was delightful and good for any lingering winter colds! Three of those were pruned to within an inch of their lives before a hackberry – Celtis sinensis – was crown lifted. Note should be taken that the camphor laurels and the hackberry are both considered invasive weeds in NSW and therefore can usually be removed without a permit in most council areas. Next up, a mixed conifer hedge was tidied up and a pittosporum and camellia had their front face pruned back. Finally, a lilly pilly hedge that needed trimming was pruned to create a rather sharp manicured look. A tripod ladder was used to cut nearly all these specimens and the cut green waste was removed and the site was left clean and tidy. A visually pleasing end result was achieved with some skilled pruning work by the team on the day.
