Hornsby Tree Work
Hornsby
Hornsby Shire
1 day
Two specimens – Sydney Blue Gum and a Lilly Pilly – needed to be reduced, pruned and shaped.
Hazards around climbing a large tree and transporting cut items to ground level.
The client was happy with the end result.
An early start was needed on this job as any work on a large tree requires a bit of prep work to ensure all hazards are planned and accounted for. A long overhanging branch of a Sydney Blue Gum – Eucalyptus saligna – situated above a deck was reduced back to a lateral branch closer to the trunk for safety reasons. All large dead branches over 30mm in diameter within the canopy were also removed to lessen any further hazards and manage the risk going forward. The second tree on the job sheet was a large lilly pilly – Syzygium Sp. – which had about 3 metres taken from its highest point and shaped for better aesthetic appeal – a burst of growth come spring will have it looking fantastic and in good overall health. The large reduction on this specimen and other work was permitted by the RFS 10/50 regulations which allows for tree work in a designated bushfire zone within 10-metres of a dwelling to be undertaken without council approval. It is, however, always nice to leave a tree in place instead of removing it completely. In this situation a canopy reduction was all that was needed and removal was not necessary.
