Description

A massive amount of small work was needed on this job starting with the dismantling to ground level of four conifers and a number of celtis specimens. A bougainvillea was also requested by the client to be reduced to ground level along with a gnarly unproductive citrus tree. Two further conifers were also removed along with a native bottlebrush – Callistemon viminalis – and a Winter jasmine – Jasminium nudiflorum. A loquat tree – Eriobotrya japonica – and a number of weeds including some self-seeded camphor laurel and broad-leaf privet were also removed at the site, as well as some sweet pittosporum and a feijoa that was cut to ground level out front. After tackling the multitude of specimens needing removal, the work pivoted to pruning and tidying the remainder of the garden. Three camellias were trimmed and shaped and the deadwood was removed from several specimens including a Florida fiddlewood – Citharexylum spinosum – and a horse chestnut tree – Aesculus hippocastanum. A date palm had its dead fronds removed and was given a general spruce up and the overall result was a near complete transformation of the garden from a veritable jungle to a much more manicured tidy aspect. Council permissions were sought and given for a number of elements in this large-volume job and a satisfying end result was achieved without any concerns.
