Description

An early start over in Wahroonga, where a large dead Blackbutt Eucalyptus pilularis requiring a 40-tonne crane was scheduled for removal. Preparation work was carried out prior to the crane’s arrival, with some large timbers placed on the driveway to spread the load of the crane and avoid any possible damage from the weight of the crane to the driveway surface. Once the crane arrived on-site, work began on dismantling the dead tree to ground level, with careful attention being paid to the potential risks and hazards associated with the removal of trees that have a high likelihood of being unstable. Dead or dying trees and/or any specimens with any diseased sections that can often undermine the structure of a tree pose a serious danger to the surrounding area if not dealt with by an experienced team. Our team worked skilfully and efficiently on this large tree specimen and when the first log truck arrived at 1pm, there was a good amount of wood that needed removal from the site. Subsequent trucks were needed throughout the afternoon to remove all the material, leaving none of the larger section sizes behind. And, with a final clean-up achieved, there was a minimum of sawdust and no other debris left behind at the end of the day. Overall, a great result, addressing some much needed safety concerns and creating space for more suitable plantings by the client in the future if desired.
